Located in Bandung, Sri Baduga Museum is one of West Java’s largest and most complete cultural institutions. Named after the famous Sundanese King Sri Baduga Maharaja, it holds a treasure trove of Sundanese heritage, from prehistoric artifacts and traditional musical instruments to colonial-era documents and ethnographic displays.
The museum’s three floors chronologically showcase West Java’s history, starting from its geological past, progressing through the Hindu-Buddhist era, Islamic kingdoms, and colonial Dutch rule. Educational panels are available in multiple languages, making it accessible for international travelers.
Local traditions are deeply respected in the museum’s curation. A unique section is dedicated to Sundanese rituals, dances, and wedding customs. Occasionally, live traditional performances are held in the outdoor courtyard.
Open to the public, school groups, and cultural researchers, the museum is a hub of learning. It hosts annual cultural festivals, including Sundanese Gamelan Day and traditional textile exhibitions.
