This museum is located on Jl. Pematang Purba, Purba District, Simalungun Regency, North Sumatra. Bolon Purba house along with the building was built around the XVI century by the Ancient King. The location of this museum is quite strategic, located 180 km from Polonia-Medan Airport and as far as 205 km from Belawan Sea Port.
The Pematang Purba Palace stands on land or a hill or plateau surrounded by ravines and valleys and is bordered by bamboo hedges and large trees, this is based on the atmosphere at that time that there were possible attacks from other tribes who came when -time. In the past to reach this palace was very difficult through tunnels but now it has been rehabilitated so it is easy to pass.
The types of buildings in this complex include: bolon rum, bale bolon, ruma pattangan raja, puang bolon ruma pattangan, jambur, bale buttu, jabu jungga, and ruma losung. Bolon house is a former palace of King Purba consisting of 2 parts, namely the front (lopou) used for the residence of the king and his guests, and the back is used for his wife of 12 people and their children. This house faces east.
