The Sawahlunto Railway Museum is located on Jalan Kampung Teleng, Pasar Kelurahan, Lembah Segar District, Sawahlunto City, West Sumatra. This museum was once a station then on December 17, 2005 it was converted as a museum and was inaugurated by Mr. Jusuf Kalla who at that time served as Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia.
To visit the Sawahlunto Railway Museum, each visitor is only charged an entrance ticket of Rp. 3,000 and for non-attendance hours it is 8:00 to 17:00 every day except Monday, when the museum is closed for maintenance.
When I arrived at Sawahlunto, the time had passed at 5 pm so the museum was closed, the next morning I returned again so that I could recognize this museum and its history. My arrival was greeted by a sweet smile from the museum clerk, I immediately paid for the entrance ticket before entering the museum which is a building inside the Sawahlunto Train Station.
Inside the museum there is an audio-visual room which at that time seemed quiet, only I was one but even so the museum staff kept on turning on the video containing the history of the Sawahlunto Railway Museum for me, from that video I became more aware of the history of this museum.
