Pekalongan Batik Museum

Pekalongan Batik Museum was inaugurated by the 6th President of the Republic of Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on July 12, 2006. The occupied building is a Dutch heritage building that has been established since 1906 which initially served as the financial administration office of a sugar factory located around the area of ​​Pekalongan residency. In its development, this building experienced several changes in functions as City Hall, Mayor’s Office, to City Government office complexes. Pekalongan Batik Museum keeps a large collection of old to modern batik both from coastal areas, inland areas and other Javanese areas, batik from various regions in Nusantaara such as from Sumatra, Kalimantan, to Papua, and other types of batik techniques from overseas. Not only exhibiting batik collections, Pekalongan Batik Museum is also a batik training center and batik learning center. Students and general visitors can learn to make batik or do research on batik culture. Pekalongan Batik Museum also has training programs to batik both directly to the community, to various schools, to various other institutions. Various collaborations with various parties were also carried out to preserve batik culture. All of these things are carried out in accordance with the commitment of the Pekalongan Batik Museum to continue to preserve and preserve the cultural heritage of this precious value.
