Baturraden Botanical Garden

The Baturraden Botanical Garden is in Kemutug Lor Village, Baturraden District, Banyumas Regency, bordering Baturraden Tourism and Baturraden Campground. Its construction was initiated since 2001. This Botanical Garden is a manifestation of the inspiration of Ms. Megawati Soekarnoputri (Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia) who was initiated at the closing of the National Jamboree in 2000 in Baturraden, Central Java. This was conveyed directly by Ms. Mega to the Governor of Central Java, H. Mardiyanto, considering that at that time Central Java Province was the only province in Java that did not yet have a botanical garden. The total area of the Baturraden Botanical Garden reaches 143.5 ha and is located in the Perum Perhutani Tourism Area which is a plantation of pine (Pinus merkusii), resin (Agathis borneensis), and rasamala (Altingia excelsa), as well as several types of rattan as inserts. The Baturraden Botanical Garden has been designated as an ex situ conservation area for the mountainous flora of Java.
