Pohon Ashoka

This species of medium-sized tree originated on the Indian mainland from where it spread to Indonesia. The name Ashoka is taken from the name of the famous Buddhist king of India. Therefore this tree is considered sacred to Buddhism. In India there are lots of these trees planted around the edges of temples. This tree has clusters of beautiful flowers that range in colour from yellow, through orange to red. The tree is usually planted as an ornamental tree in yards because it is not too large in size and the colour of its flowers has great charm.
