There are about 42 tombs in the Dutch cemetery of Governor Generals and various relatives and officials who died in the Bogor Palace and its surroundings. Cornelis Potmans was the first Dutchman to be interred here; he was buried on May 2, 1784. He was only 42 years of age and had been an administrator of the Bogor Palace pharmacy. In 1944, Prof. Dr. A. J. G. H. Kostermans was the last Indonesian-Dutch descent to be buried here; he had worked for many years as a researcher at the Herbarium Bogoriense.
