Tugu Lady Rafles

This monument was established by Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles in memory of his wife, Lady Olivia Mariamne who died of malaria in 1814. During the British occupation of Indonesia, Raffles served as Lieutenant Governor and stayed in Bogor from 1811 until 1816. Raffles initiated a garden behind the Bogor Palace, designed to resemble the formal gardens of England.
