Museum Sasmitaloka Panglima Besar Jenderal Sudirman

Jenderal Sudirman Commander in Chief Museum is located on Jalan Bintaran Wetan 3, Yogyakarta. During the Dutch colonial period, this building was used as the official residence of the Puro Paku Alam financial officer VII. During the Japanese occupation, the building was vacated and the furniture confiscated. After Indonesian independence was used as the ‘Tukul’ Battalion Company Headquarters, Lieutenant Colonel Suharto. From December 18, 1945 to December 19, 1948 functioned as the official residence of General Sudirman, after being sworn in as the Commander-in-Chief of the People’s Security Army. During the War of Independence in the face of the Dutch Military Aggression II, the building was used as the Information Base Headquarters of the Dutch Army Brigade T. After the recognition of the sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia on December 27, 1949, it functioned as the Yogyakarta Military Command Headquarters. Then it was used as the dormitory of the XIII Infantry Regiment and People with Disabilities. From 17 June 1968 to 30 August 1982 it functioned as the Army Museum. The inauguration of General Sudirman Sasmitaloka Pangsar Museum was carried out by the Army Chief of Staff Poniman on August 31, 1982. Sudirman was born on Monday Pon January 24, 1916 in Dukuh Rembang, Bantarbarang, Purbalingga. General education Hollandsch-Inlandsche School, Cilacap, graduated in 1931. Continued to Taman Siswa and MULO Wiworotomo, Cilacap, graduated in 1934 and HIK Muhammadiyah, Solo. While at this MULO, Sudirman was educated by Suwardjo Tirtosupono, a graduate of the Dutch Breda Military Academy, who did not want to be appointed as KNIL Officer, but chose to jump into the national movement. Military education was taken at the Javanese PETA Officer Boei Giyugun Kanbu Renseitai Education Center, Bogor, as Daidancho (Danyon).
