Cempaka (Magnolia champaca) is the name for several species of Magnoliaceae tribe, genus Magnolia (sensu lato, s.l.). In daily conversation, cempaka is usually cempaka perfume or in Aceh known as bungong jeumpa (Magnolia champaca synonym of Michelia champaca L.). In Sunda called campaka, in Javanese the tree is called kanthil. This plant originated from India and became a source of fragrance. The name is taken from the name in Sanskrit. Other types, also called cempaka, because of their likeness or flower aroma, are white cempaka or kantil (Magnolia × alba synonym Michelia × alba DC), cempaka egg or cempaka mump (Magnolia liliifera), and cempaka noble (Magnolia figo synonym Michelia figo (Lour.) Spreng).
