This building was originally a German Trade Consultant building. Established in 1909, it functions as the Office of the German Trade Representative on the west coast of Sumatra. When Japan won in the Greater East Asia war and on March 17, 1942 succeeded in taking control of the City of Padang. Their building was controlled and made the headquarters of the army. After the independence of the Republic of Indonesia, it was occupied by Yusuf Ali (Black Cat) troops as its headquarters. When the allies arrived who were accompanied by the Dutch, precisely on October 13, 1945. Yusuf Ali (Black Cat) forces retreated from the city and guerrilla. Through KMB negotiations and the surrender of the Republic of Indonesia Kedaultan on December 27, 1949 the building on Jalan Samudera no. 8 this was submitted by the Dutch to the Resident of West Sumatra, then handed over to the Regiment – IV Army and Territorial I / Bukit Barisan (Res. IV. T & T-I / BB) and this building was used as its headquarters complex. A moment later Res. IV / T & T-I / BB was changed to Kopag KODAM III / 17 August, the Regional Daily Board of Forces 45 (DHD’45) West Sumatra saw the possibility of occupying the vacated office, including the INMINDAM office. October 16, 1986 DHD ’45 West Sumatra with letter No. 206 / B-IX / 1986 requested KOREM 032 / WIRABRAJA to occupy the office as a DHD4545 West Sumatra office and at the same time serve as Joang ’45 West Sumatra Building. On February 15, 1987 with his letter No. B / 79 / II / 1987 DANREM 032 agreed to provide a place to fulfill the request for DHD’45 West Sumatra, signed by Col. Inf. Iding Suwardi. After being owned by DHD ’45, it is used as the office of the Daily Force ’45 West Sumatra. Because the results of the Martial Arts Force ’45 VII in Ujung Pandang decided that each building of DHD / DHC Force 45 was gradually made into the Djoang Building in their respective regions which functioned as the Djoang ’45 Museum as a ’45 Civilization Culture institution’.
