The Division of Nephrology and Hypertension is committed to the research, treatment and prevention of kidney diseases, including acute and chronic renal failure, complications of chronic dialysis treatment, hypertension, and kidney stones and cystic disease.

The overarching mission of the laboratory of Dr. Kenneth Lim in the Division of Nephrology at IUSM focuses on tackling cardiovascular disease in patients with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), which is the leading cause of death in this population and a current global health crisis. Our research spans the spectrum of translational approaches (focused on the development of advanced therapeutics at the bench) to clinical research (focused on the development and delivery of definitive clinical trials). Job Summary

The Research Analyst provides a mission critical role in our translational research program where they will be involved in supporting our current drug development program.

Department-Specific Responsibilities
  • Works with our multidisciplinary team, collaborating faculty, industry partners, core services and units across the IU Indianapolis campus and beyond.
General Responsibilities
  • Performs complex and intricate laboratory experiments while following research techniques and procedures.
  • Develops procedures and protocols in collaboration with leadership.
  • Prepares research reports or analyses for projects.
  • Maintains safety records and ensures safety/compliance procedures and protocols are followed.
  • Provides guidance and support to junior-level staff in laboratory operations.
  • May develop, prepare, and coordinate grant applications and grant-related activities to obtain funding for research projects and related work.

EDUCATION

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in related field

  • Master's degree in related field

Working Conditions / Demands

The role regularly requires the ability to effectively communicate. The role frequently requires the ability to move about the work environment and to position oneself to operate laboratory equipment effectively. The role requires the ability to move objects weighing up to 25 pounds and will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
