The Florida Holocaust Museum (The FHM) honors the memory of millions of innocent men, women and children who suffered or died in the Holocaust. One of the largest Holocaust museums in the country, The FHM is dedicated to teaching members of all races and cultures to recognize the inherent worth and dignity of human life in order to prevent future genocides. One of only three American Alliance of Museum (AAM) accredited Holocaust museums, The FHM boasts an outstanding collection of contemporary visual art as well as the largest Holocaust research library in the Southeastern United States. Its permanent exhibition highlights the artifacts, photographs, documents and testimonies of Holocaust Survivors and Liberators who came to settle in Florida. ABOUT THE POSITION

The Florida Holocaust Museum is seeking an experienced and goal-oriented Grants Manager to join our team. This is a full-time position which reports to the Chief Development Officer. The Grants Manager will be responsible for building, managing, and reporting on a significant portfolio of public, private, and foundation grants. The Grants Manager will work closely with Chief Development Officer, Director of Development, Engagement Department team members, and Collections, Preservation, Research and Education Department team members in this collaborative effort.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Grant Identification and Foundation Relations

1. Using needs identification, research and solicit grants and funding opportunities to support the Mission of the Museum.
2. Build relationships across the community served to foster opportunities for the Museum with community foundations, corporate philanthropy departments, and elected officials.
3. Collaborate with other Development team members to support the foundation relations arm of the future capital campaign effort.

Grant Preparation and Reporting

1. Manage data tracking across all Museum activities to support grant applications having collaborative input from respective team members.
2. Develop content for grant submissions including specific or topical narratives as needed.
3. Develop and manage effective tools for grant deliverables, timelines, and reporting.
4. Communicate across departments and help team members contribute in a timely way to reporting needs.
5. Build sustainable relationships with appropriate partners including lobbying partners, corporate philanthropy departments, and foundations to support grant efforts and ensure good will when needed.

Compliance and Grant Documentation

1. Build a system-approach to grant management to support compliance with grant deliverables.
2. Create an internal tracking system for the ongoing oversight and management of reporting deadlines and documents.
3. Partner effectively with the finance and other departments to provide documentation and create detailed tracking for audit purposes.
4. Perform an annual audit of grants, reports, expenditures, and future needs.
5. Lead an annual planning meeting to support budgeting and grant need ideation.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Marketing, Communications, or a related field preferred. Additional years of experience may replace the education requirement.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in grant writing and management.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Exceptional communication skills, with a proven ability to write effectively and persuasively.
• Gifted relationship-builder with the skills and agility to build strong rapport with foundations, corporate philanthropy departments, and public agencies that provide grants.
• Proven track record of detail-orientation, financial acumen, and timely grant compliance.
• Ability to lead colleagues through grant processes to support content development and reporting without authoritarianism.
• Demonstrated experience with project and budget management preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Familiarity with Altru or similar donor databases.
• Knowledge of grant opportunities and state funding management.
• Proficiency in managing multiple deadlines while working with diverse groups cross-organizationally.
• Commitment and ability to ethically steward granting relationships and associated funds
• Commitment to the mission and core values of The FHM.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Prolonged periods of time sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Ability to type and read on a computer screen for extended periods.
• Occasional lifting of office supplies and materials up to 10 pounds.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both in person and via telephone, video conference, or email.
• May require occasional travel for site visits or meetings, which could involve walking or standing for extended periods.
• Ability to perform administrative duties such as filing, organizing, and sorting documents.
