The University of Maryland Marlene & Stewart Greenebaum Cancer Center (UMGCCC) requires a detail oriented, experienced scientific Grant Writer/Editor to join their team. This is a fully remote, non-benefited contractual position. The selected candidate will be responsible for researching and writing grant proposals to secure funding from foundations, corporations, and government agencies. This position will support existing and planned program activities as well as lead the development, writing, and submission of grant proposals to federal, state, and private funding agencies. This is a new role and will be critical in helping UMGCCC expand its research and academic mission. Significant effort will be devoted to writing and editing large, multi-investigator, multi-site NIH applications.
The position will research and identify grant opportunities that align with the UMGCCC's mission and funding priorities. It will develop and write compelling grant proposals, including letters of inquiry, full proposals, and reports. The position will tailor proposals to meet the specific requirements of each funder, ensuring that all submissions are accurate, complete, and submitted on time. It will collaborate with program staff to gather the necessary information and data to support grant applications. The position will also maintain a calendar of grant deadlines, including submissions, reports, and renewals, and will have responsibility for the preparation of interim and final reports for funders, documenting the outcomes and impact of funded projects. Gather, write, and organize information for newsletters and other research and public information materials, including University website.UMB is a public university and constituent institution of the University System of Maryland. PRIMARY DUTIESQualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree, preferably in a related field such as English, communications, or journalism.
Experience: Three (3) years of grant writing experience. Experience in municipal, state, federal, higher education, and/or corporate grants and contract preparation preferred. Experience should include past successes with NIH applications. Scientific writing experience including contributions to funded grant applications, articles published in scientific journals and formal papers preferred.
Other: Financial disclosure reporting required by State of Maryland Ethics Committee.
