We are currently seeking a FIAR Consultant to join our team based in the Washington, D.C. area, supporting the U.S. Navy.

What you’ll do:

The FIAR Consultant will provide support to the Financial Statements Compilation and Reporting Division (FSCR) for the U.S. Navy

Responsibilities:

  • Support FMO 2.3’s validation of the Department of Navy (DON)’s General Fund (GF) & Working Capital Fund (WCF) Trial Balances, Financial Statements, and accompanying Footnotes
  • Provide Analytics on the accuracy of GF and WCF Monthly and Quarterly reports and brief client of results
  • Conduct financial statement reconciliations as defined in the July 14, 2014 DCFO Memo "Accurate and Reliable FM Trial Balances (Tie Points), and in Standard Financial Information Structure Guidance (SFIS)
  • Coordinate Notice of Finding and Recommendation (NFR) response within the DON’s FMO division, EPR (Evaluate, Prioritize, and Remediate), the division specializes in driving accountability for corrective action planning and remediation through the implementation of collaborative end-to-end processes across DON stakeholders
  • Provide knowledge management and NFR update and analysis
  • Review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for DON FMO Evaluation, Prioritization, Remediation (EPR Program)
  • Lead strategy on NFR prioritization methodology, Financial Statement compilation, and Footnote reconciliation
  • Attend meetings and provide client support onsite/in person when required

Qualifications:

  • Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM), or Certified Defense Financial Manager (CDFM) certifcation
  • Understanding of the TFM and the United States Standard General Ledger (USSGL) is required.
  • Communicates clearly and effectively (oral and written);
  • Interacts comfortably with team and client personnel.
  • Demonstrates self-motivation, excellent time-management, and organizational skills.
  • Possesses strong analytical skills, initiative, and the ability to work well under pressure, can meet tight deadlines, and is committed to complete projects.
  • Understanding of Defense Financial Management and accounting preferable.
  • Experience with Department of Defense Audit Readiness and/or Audit Sustainment activities preferable.
  • Well organized to manage multiple different tasks and activities across different workstreams.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
  • Active DOD SECRET security clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree from an institution accredited in the United States
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask
  • Strong verbal and written interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally using a credit card or prepaid debit card as required by MBC and/or clients
