Engineering/Maintenance Technician
Full-time Days

Essential Functions:

• Maintains and repairs various appliances and equipment throughout the hospital.
• Performs semi-skilled work in the installation and repair of steam traps, valves, and water pumps and repair and adjustments of refrigeration and air-conditioning systems.
• Repairs doors, door closures, locks, tables, chairs, and other furniture or equipment.
• Repairs plumbing fixtures, including unstopping commodes, drains, steam traps, and sewer lines, cleaning grease traps, and repairing leaking faucets.
• Assists other trade workers in carrying out preventive maintenance programs on various types of hospital equipment.
• Replaces light bulbs, ballasts, switches, cords, and fuses.

Exposure Level:

• Category II. The position includes tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, but employment may require performing unplanned Category I tasks in the event of an emergency.

Required Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

• Three to five years experience in electrical, air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating work.
• High school graduate or equivalent combination of experience and training to accomplish duties.

Physical/Mental Demands:
Works in a variety of conditions ranging from high heat and humidity to sub-freezing temperatures in snow and rain. Must often assume an awkward position near dangerous equipment. The working environment is often noisy. Refer to the attached Description of Physical Demands.
