SolidEdge Mechanical Designer

Description:

DAY TO DAY:

Candidate would be working on projects that are related to sheet metal design. They will be designing equipment for medical purposes and it can range in terms of what the product line is. As the candidate is learning they would be taught on sheet metal and the industry. The candidate would also work to manipulate products and how to do laser cut tooling, flat patterns, and brake tooling. They would also be working on how to release designs to production and they would work with Bill of Materials and Engineering Changes. The candidate will be interfacing with the design team and working closely with the production team when designs are released.

The candidate will see these projects from cradle to grave. It would be common for them to have a work week where it is 50% design and 50% cad admin related work. The candidate will touch all different facets of the product lifecycles that they have and they will be using existing references to start their design work. Once they are comfortable with this, they will be put on new product development projects.

Candidate will be working within Solid Edge design package for the CAD.

Ultimately that type of the activity will be the transition for this type of person. Someone looking for new product development this

TRAVEL:

Less than 5%, if they do travel it will be to local facilities to see the equipment

HOURS:

40-45 hours per week.

Candidate will be working in the office as they will need to become familiar with the team and what they do. There may be an opportunity for remote work once they become acclimated.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

MUST HAVES:

• 3+ years of Solidworks Design experience (Candidate must have utilized Solidworks from a 3D standpoint, and understand the solidworks program fully from a designing standpoint. The candidate will be switching to SolidEdge right when they start and the more versed they are in Solidworks, the easier the transition will be)
• 2+ years of Sheet metal Design experience (Candidate will be designing sheet metal equipment since that is what the client specializes in. They will need to know how to create flat patterns, how to orient material grain within those flat patterns, and they will feed everything to the laser from CAD and will need to understand that process)
• Communication (Candidate must be able to work in a small team, they have a team of 4 people and this candidate will need to be able to communicate effectively with this team along with the laser department since they will be working with them as well)
• Microsoft Office experience (Candidate will be utilizing various programs in Microsoft for their designs such as Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook for email)
• Bill of Materials/Engineering Changes (Candidate will be doing BOM's and engineering change requests and would need to be familiar with how to do this)
