The Health Services Administration Department within the College of Nursing and Health Professions (CNHP)* offers both graduate and undergraduate degrees in health services administration. Students may select full-time (undergraduate only) or part-time study. Courses are delivered in-person, online, or in hybrid format. The core curriculum is designed to expose students to the quantitative and qualitative aspects of the healthcare industry through didactic and experiential learning in leadership, general management, economic principles, and health policy. At the same time, the program exposes students to interdisciplinary study in areas such as bioethics, epidemiology, and the history of healthcare.
Currently, the Health Services Administration Department is accepting applications for adjunct instructors with expertise in medical billing and coding. Selected candidates will join a pool of adjunct faculty who will serve on an ad hoc basis to teach classes online. Adjunct instructors are hired on a term-by-term basis.
**Job Summary**
Drexel University's College of Nursing and Health Professions is seeking an adjunct instructor for the Medical Billing & Coding Certificate Program. This program focuses on medical billing and coding principles utilizing four manuals (ICD-10, ICD-10-PCS, CPT and HCPCS) as well as the basics of revenue cycle management. Upon completion of the program, graduates are prepared to sit for the following national certification exams: Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist (CMRS), Certified Professional Coder (CPC or CIC), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCA).
**Essential Functions**
Successful applicants will be part of the Health Administration Department and work alongside an engaged faculty who prepare students for careers in health care. Responsibilities include facilitating a cutting-edge online curriculum and providing course instruction utilizing the Blackboard Learning Management System.
**Required Qualifications**
At least 5 years of relevant experience in medical billing and coding
Master's degree (or higher) in a relevant field
Possess one or more of the following certifications: Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Outpatient Coding (COC), Certified Coding Associate (CCA), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
