Under direction, the Consumer Protection Senior Environmental Health Inspector regulates food facilities, solid waste handling, housing, hotels, tobacco, massage and body arts establishments, drinking water, air quality, sewage disposal, and other matters under applicable local, state, and federal legal authority. Responsibilities May supervise a team of Environmental Health Inspectors engaged in the enforcement of various codes, orders, ordinances, and laws. Assigned and manage specialty program(s) in one or more Consumer Protection Programs. Conduct inspections and investigations of complaints involving food and drink establishments and other facilities requiring permits. May have specialized program responsibility on a countywide basis in areas such as industrial hygiene, food safety, and environmental hazards. Performs duties related to reviewing and approving construction or demolition building plans. Attends meetings and makes environmental health presentations. Prepares legal notices of violations and issues citations. Interprets environmental health code provisions and coordinates requirements with other departments. How to qualify MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Experience: Two (2) years of experience in food, housing, water quality, vector control, noise abatement, and/or related environmental health inspection work. License and Certification: Possession of a REHS (Registered Environmental Health Specialist) Certificate. Eligibility to be deputized as a peace officer.
