Google groups are the way that Google recommends giving a group of people access to folders full of documents inside Google Drive.

You can make a group for your local Club at

A great number of the resource documents that Geotourism Clubs use are available to members of the Geotourism Club’s Roster Google Group.  You can go ahead and join that group here.

If you make a Google Drive document and want to share it with the worldwide Geotourism Club, just add “” to the access control for the folder or the document.  When you share with that address, everyone who is a member of the Google group will be able to access the document or folder.

Now that you know how Google Groups work, consider making one for your local Geotourism Club to make it easy to share documents with your members.

Google Drive makes it easy to share all of your Clubs documents. Here is how you can make a folder that is is setup to be shared with the Club.

  • Open this Google Drive folder
  • Find the Icon link that says “Add to My Drive”
  • Make a subfolder for your local Club
  • Place your your new Club documents into it (Checklist and Resources documents).
  • Share with your local Club group address
  • Check to make sure the folder is shared to

Create additional folders and documents inside your new folder, as needed.  When you do so, they will automatically be shared with your Club.
